Effective Pedagogy

Teacher candidates can create effective and meaningful instruction and assessments for all students based on required subject matter knowledge, state content standards, curriculum goals, and use of technology (TEAC QP1.2, Technology; INTASC 4, 6, 7, 8; UPTS 1-4).

Artifact 1:
During the spring semester of 2011, in my Technology for Educators (EDUC 2500) class at Dixie State College, I used SMARTBoard Technologies Smart Notebook to create a lesson plan based on the state objectives and standards for Kindergarten Language Arts. This lesson shows evidence of the Effective Pedagogy D.E.S.E.R.T. model because I am able to present my knowledge of the subject matter and incorporate the use of technology to produce student learning. This lesson teaches children to identify all of the upper-case, and lower-case letters of the alphabet in random order. This lesson plan creates an effective way to present the information my students will need to learn, as well as provide a fun and interactive assessment to check for student understanding while still meeting the state core standards and curriculum.
